Spring Classic

Kick off the Spring with a 100K ride on Sunday, April 1st.  Ride starts at 9 AM from TT Greenwich and travels through Pound Ridge, Waccabuc, Bedford, Mount Kisco, Chappaqua before returning to Greenwich. Free for active monthly and annual members, $30 for non-members.

Sherwood Island Sprint Triathlon

.5 Mile Swim, 13 Mile Bike, 3.1 Mile Run

The Sherwood Island Sprint Triathlon will be taking place on Father's Day - June 17th, 2012.

The second annual Targetraning Sherwood Island Sprint race will be held at beautiful Sherwood Island State Park in Westport, CT. Sherwood Island is Connecticut's oldest state park and has some of the best beaches on Long Island. The half mile swim will take place in Long Island Sound, the 13 mile bike course will take you on a tour of Westport's beachside communities and the 3.1 mile run will be held entirely within the state park. Sherwood Island is a great spot for the whole family, come for the race and then stay all day.  

Registration opens January 1st, 2012.
Individual Entry $85 (goes up to $95 on March 1st, $105 on June 1st)

 Packet Pick Up

Race packet pick-up will take place at Targetraining in Westport on Friday, 6/15/12 from 10 AM - 6 PM and Saturday, 6/16/12 from 10 AM - 4 PM.

Pick up last minute race items at our fully stocked store.

Do not forget to bring your ID and USAT membership number to registration - no exceptions!

Race Distance: Swim .5 miles, Bike 13 miles, Run 3.1 miles

Event Categories: We have individual and relay categories available.

Insurance: You must be a member of USA Triathlon to compete in the race, including each relay member. If you do not have an annual membership, you must purchase a one-day membership for $10 during the registration process.

Fees: Individual $85-$105, 
Relay $160.

Rules: The race is a USAT sanctioned race so USAT rules are in effect. You must wear an ANSI-approved helmet during the entire cycling event. Headphones for music are prohibited during the race. Age Requirements: You must be 13 years old or older to participate in the Targetraining Sherwood Island Sprint Triathlon.

Participants who swap or sell their race number will not be allowed to race, lose all entry fees and will be subject to disciplinary action by USAT.

Parking: Parking at Sherwood Island for racers is covered in your race fee.  Please make sure to present your parking pass (included in your registration bag) on race morning. Spectators are permitted to park at Sherwood Island but must arrive by 6:15 AM – the parking fee is $20 per vehicle.

 

Transition Area: The transition area will not be available until you have picked up your race number and volunteers have written your number on your arms and legs.  The transition area will be monitored by volunteers and the Westport Police department throughout the race and until you pick up your belongings.

Swim: The swim is a .5 mile counter-clockwise rectangle.  Multiple wave starts based on age and gender. There will be 3 minutes in between waves.  All participants are required to wear the swim cap that we will provide in your race packet.

Bike: Please follow all USAT biking rules (no drafting/blocking, helmets required) and marshals will be monitoring the course.  No iPods or other music players are allowed on the race course (bike or run) at any time.

Run: There will be aid stations in transition, at mile one, and mile two.  They will be stocked with water, Gatorade, and gels.

Finish Line & Awards: There will be a post-race party with breakfast. Gift certificate awards for Tri & Cycle in the amount of $300, $200, $100 for top three overall male and female finishers and $30, $20, $10 for top three male and female finishers in each Age Group.

Charities: We are pleased to announce that a portion of race proceeds will go towards Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.  Additionally, we are proud to announce that this race will be the official sprint distance triathlon in CT for Team In Training.
