Dude is fast

At the USA Triathlon Duathlon National Championship Eneas was so fast, a race official questioned, "if he rode the whole course?" That is fast!!

Over at the USAT Eneas is quoted,
"I went to school here at the University of Richmond, so it was kind of a homecoming for me and my family. I hadn’t been here in a long time,” said men’s 30-34 age group winner Eneas Freyre, 33, Norwalk, Conn. “The bike course was nice; it was fast, which I like. And I recognized the roads, so I had no problems. The run course was a little challenging with some of the corners. It was a great venue. The people are really friendly. It’s nice to come down here and visit.”

What a weekend...

First, we had a beautiful ride on Saturday with a great group. Carlos, Suzie and Matt led the training ride. We had 3 groups riding well together. The great weather combined with a great route for 42 mile ride and 30 miles created big smiles on many faces. Flowers were in bloom everywhere, bikes hummed; it was all a fantastic experience.

Back at the ranch, we had two good pilates sessions, and Justin was dispensing one on one attention to a myriad of clients, while also helping to lead the 10 AM indoor cycling session. Two clients were riding their beautiful new Scott CR1's, almost ready for the long trek outdoors -- they'll soon get there! With big smiles on because it was a site to see -- everyone getting ready for the ride.

As Eneas said in his brief post from Virginia, we had a group competing in the USA National Duathlon Championships. We now have 2 national champions as well as a third place (podium). Eneas is now the Duathlon National Champion for the 30-34 age group. He won by 3 minutes despite losing 2 minutes because someone moved his bicycle in the transition zone. It was a 10K run, 38K ride and then a 5K run. Eneas of course posted the fastest bike split of the day. He used a Cervelo P3C with Zipp 1080's and a Zipp sub-zero disc. Plus Eneas ran on Newton shoes. Trevor McLean became the 16-19 age group "Off-Road" Duathlon Champion with a blistering time across all three legs of the 5K run, 11K bike and 3K run in-the-woods course. And Max Veiga got 3rd in his age group to grab the final podium spot. He also ran a great race. Congrats to Sam Goater, who competed and completed the off-road race despite a mechanical. If you think it was hot here, you can imagine the temperature in Richmond Virginia.

The Minuteman Race at Westport CT's Compo Beach was also a great morning out for everyone. We had a great tent set up with running shoes and bikes and stuff. Jeff Sparling, Michael Ginghina and little Max there helping everyone. We had a fantastic level of participation. Among others running in both the 5K and 10K event, there were Kim Driscoll, Loren Benjamin, Sally Kadoux and her husband Peter, Whtiney Ross, Michelle Godbout, Chris Kenny, Scott Feder and his family, Mitch West and his son, David Yockleson and his family; Greg Stewart and his daughter, David Booth, Brett Jones, Dom Gillen, Ellen Spear and Lyn McCabe. Meanwhile, TARGETRAINING provided a bicycle escort: Justin Colby escorted the 5K race, while Brad Hardy and Wayne Zimmerman escorted the 10K race. Bonnie and Rob Adler were there cheering everyone on, as was Michael Gordon with his family. Lots of results followed. In the 5K, Dom won; Lyn got 3rd overall woman and Megan Kelly won her 20-29 age group. In the 10K, Kim got 3rd overall woman, Allie Lawyler got 3rd in her age group (30-39); David Booth got 1st in the 30-39 men; Brett got 3rd in the 20-29 men; David Yockleson (who was sick) got 1st in the 40-49 men. So many results, one of us (me) could not keep track of it ...Congratulations to all and what a great way to have the TT family together. See WestportNow.com for some great pictures on the event.

The TT Masters team got 2nd (Max Lippolis) and 4th (Stephen Badger) in the 63 mile race up in Palmer MA. Ed was part of the eight man break but flatted. Badger was able to bridge up.

And Kristen from the TT Tri Team won the Bronx Duathlon for the 3rd year in a row.

Finally, Suzie won a mountain bike race!

So it was a great weekend of wonderfully warm weather and great activities.

Thanks for participating!

Duathlon Nationals Update Richmond, VA

It's the first hot weekend in the South: 95 degrees here in Richmond. I just saw Max finish. If you thought that he was skinny before, you should see him now!
He took 5th overall and 3rd in his age group! Nice podium.
Trevor excelled and used a great bike leg to crush everyone in his race and took 1st! National Champ.

Tomorrow will be another hot one with a crazy 10k run course and way too many people on the bike course. I recommend putting blinders on and opening the throttle all the way 'til the finish line or heat stroke. Which ever happens 1st.

Looking ahead to this weekend

From an event standpoint, we have a LOT going on this weekend along with our regularly scheduled training program (Saturday and Sunday personal training sessions, Saturday and Sunday rides -- right now looks like a beautiful day Saturday so an outdoor ride should be in the works..., pilates classes, swim classes, running session)...

1. Sunday at Compo. -- The Westport Minuteman. We will have a tent at the event as well as a number of key participants. And we are hoping to get some volunteers on bikes to help escort the runners as they go around the course. Ali Lawlyer will be representing the women along with a number of our clients. Maybe Laurie will be there as well as Megan, too. Dom will be doing an easy run but Mitch West may come to defend his title. Maybe we'll see Dave or Greg.

2. Saturday and Sunday in Virginia -- Duathlon Nationals. Eneas, Max, and a number of clients are going down including I believe the Driscolls. We are excited to see what happens when we run bike run...

3. Sunday Quabbin Reservoir Road Race in Palmer, Mass. The Masters Team is heading up there along with a bunch of clients. Should be a blast.

And to top it all, it appears as if the weather may be quite nice!
