Xterra World's Report

So, I had some grand plans of writing a daily blog leading up to and including the events of the Xterra World Championships in Maui....that didn't happen. I found a way to keep myself so busy and exhausted on my vacation/race week to Maui that this is my first post, one week later. And one week later I have still not unpacked my bags from the trip, they are by the door where I left them, so this one will be short. The race was not so hot, that is just an expression because it was really hot! The legs just did not have what it takes to handle the bike and run climbs on the slopes of Haleakala this year. The rest of the trip was great. We hosted a pre-Halloween party at our hotel room, saw turtles and tropical fish, ordered cheeseburgers at the pool bar, and I cheered on my sister and wife in a 10k running race. Plus, I get another chance to end the racing season on a positive note. I was invited to Brazil to race in an off-road duathlon at the end of the month. The link is here. If anyone can read Portuguese let me know what the course is like. Thanks, and it looks like I have just enough time left to unpack my bags and then pack for Brazil.

The test that takes the name of the Regional XTERRA Real Road is one duathlon cross country. It can be alone fact, as professional and amateur (with division of ages), or in rotation pair (without division of ages). The passages of bike and race are foreseen stop: 3 km of race in track, 28 km of MTB and 9 km of race until the arrival. This will be the last Regional Stage (with folded punctuation) of the year and therefore the importance increases for who fight for position in Ranking XTERRA 2009.
The Duatlhon little starts with more than 3 race km the foot in the outskirts of the city of Tiradentes, releasing in the Square of the Road. For the way it has churches, tourist squares and other points. The floor varies between land, rocks and parallelopipeds. The stretch of 28 MTB extension km has about. The first part is an ascent in single track for the Track of the Mailman, followed of one donwhill until the Inn Sidewalk Is Jose. Still in the pedal, ateltas passes for a well high stretch in the Park Steps of the Founders and follows in fast descendings until the Church Ours Lady of the Penha. Already in more urban area, they follow in return to the Enclosure for bullfighting of the XTERRA, passing San Francisco Church. The end of the test is in race the foot again, but of this time for 9 km. It has more stretches in bush, as in the Track of the Mailman, ascents and descendings in road, returning in places of the MTB passage. The arrival also is in the Square of the Road of Tiradentes.
Watch out for the parallelopipidos (cobblestones). They must be bad if the town's name is Tiradentes (tooth extractor). Chris speaks Portuguese and thoroughly enjoyed this translation :)
