Monday Morning Swim Update!
There will be no Monday morning 6:00AM swim Session this week!

TARGETRAINING Half Marathon Build Up!
Get yourself ready for spring racing the intelligent way with our progressive half marathon buildup on Sundays January through February.
Distances are gradually increased weekly and we will have a new course each week. All abilities are welcome. Sessions will start with a dynamic warm up and conclude with run specific stretching, rolling and core work.
Sessions are on Sundays at 8:OOAM leaving from TARGETRAINING. If the weather does not allow for outdoor runs then sessions will be conducted indoors on our treadmills.
We will start out with a 3.1 mile run on Sunday January 10th and add mileage every week for 7 weeks. The last run will be on February 28th and will be a 13.1 mile 1/2 marathon course.
Dates: 1/10 3.1 miles, 1/17 5 miles, 1/24 6.2 miles, 1/31 8 miles, 2/7 9 miles, 2/14 10 miles, 2/21 12 miles, 2/28 13.1 miles.
Row Across the Sound!
Start the New Year with a challenge! Complete the 27,680 meters it would take to reach Port Jefferson from Bridgeport with our indoor rowing ergo trainer. Distance must be completed during the month of January. Please consult your TARGETRAINING coach for more details and to schedule attempts.
January Fitness Testing for Endurance Program
January will be the last month in which we will be field testing for our endurance sports clients which include: swimming, running and cycling. This testing is meant to get a picture of one's current fitness level and help put together attainable goals for the 2010 season. This testing is not meant to derive training zones via heart rate as we rely on our VO2 testing procedure for this. You may schedule your field test with any of our TARGETRAINING Fitness Professionals.

TARGETBurn= These are rigorous circuit workouts that are for all around fitness. These sessions incorporate a combination of functional strength, power, and agility drills and obstacle course-type efforts.
TARGETCore= These 30min concentrated training sessions focus on strengthening and stretching the core region of the body. Core strength is a critical component to a healthy system and any athletic activity.
TARGETJump= These plyometric sessions are 30min of nonstop action that will help you bridge the gap between strength and power. Improve your downhill skiing, work on forefoot landing discipline for running, or burn an extra couple hundred kilocalories at the end of another workout.
TARGETKick = Kick boxing. Taught by a highly trained martial art instructor, you will keep those legs going non-stop. The sweat will need to be continually wiped away from your eyes while you focus on form, function, and fluidity. These classes are literally a kick and a half.
TARGETide= Indoor and outdoor swim sessions conducted by the best swim instructors and athletes in Fairfield County.
TARGETorque = Cycling. All indoor cycling sessions are led by a cycling coach. These classes leverage group dynamics to inspire performance, but are also tailored to each individual. We utilize power meters, cadence sensors, speedometers, odometers, time and heart rate monitors to measure your efforts throughout the session. We will put you on virtual courses (e.g., riding up the French Alps) or on a series of intervals. As in all our endurance classes, we take into account preordination strategies and will customize a particular session to focus on which phase of training an athlete is in (base, build, speed, transition). These are great 1+ hour classes. TARGETour is the outdoor version of our cycling programming. These sessions are highly structured and accommodate all levels of cycling experience. TARGETerrain is the off road offering of our cycling programming that takes advantage of our great local parks systems. We will help you develop mountain bike and cyclocross skills all while getting in a great cardio workout.
TARGETough= These are strength training sessions specifically designed to work the full body to improve muscular strength and endurance.
TARGETread= Whether it is a summer speed track session, an indoor treadmill interval run, or fall trail run, you will hit your stride with these highly structure run sessions.
TARGETYoga= These are not your regular Yoga sessions. You will work on strength, muscular endurance and fluidity through a combination of poses and movements.
