Race result highlights from this past weekend (Aug 7/8)
Ed Angeli won his 3rd race of the season with a big victory at the New England State Championships held at Barkhamsted Reservoir in Northwest Connecticut -- the Tokeneke Classic. A 66 mile race, it features 6,600 feet of climbing and a finishing 5% 2 mile climb. Ed won it solo -- and did it against a strong field of 35+ masters competitors. Ed previously won Bear Mountain Spring Classic (also quite hilly) and Tour of the Hilltowns (yes, there is a theme here -- Ed can climb...). In any case, Ed has showcased his riding ability this year in a big way.
On the tri-front, David Yockelson won the Central Park Triathlon -- that' right -- he outright won the entire event. Interestingly, David and Ed are almost the same age, similar in size, both very nice/good guys, and race under the TT umbrella, but haven't ridden together. We should get the tri team and the cycling team for a group ride sometime. Both teams have proven to be excellent.
A bunch of TTers did Tokeneke along with Ed (and Stephan Badger who is captain of the Masters team and who usually places in every race he does but didn't this time): Mike Kirby got 3rd place in the Cat 5 race at Tokeneke (sweet Mike!); Trevor McLean got 18th in the Cat 3 race and was only 34 seconds back from the winner (Trevor is one of the younger Cat 3's out there along with Little Max who was sick with a fever Sunday); Bryce May and David Lane successfully completed the Cat 4 and Cat 5 races, respectively.

By the way, Eneas podiumed at Nationals in the TT and finished in 7th place in the road race. While Eneas always has high expectations, we congratulate him on the podium result.
This week is the Capital Region Road Race in Albany and also the Blistered Butt Road Race in Prospect Park plus a criterium in Brentwood Long Island and a crit in Fall River MA (probably too far for most of us).
And of course tomorrow there is the TT TT -- good luck for all those competing.

It's a pleasure riding under the TT umbrella!
