TargeTraining Women's Cycling Team Informational Meeting - 1/26

Calling all female cyclists - if you are interested in being a part of the TargeTraining grassroots women's cycling team, we will be meeting for dinner and an informal team meeting/planning session this Thursday (1/26) at 6:30 PM at Greenwich Tavern (1392 E Putnam Ave). You must be willing to participate in various cycling events throughout the season, as well as participate in team specific training sessions. All levels welcome, good bike handling skills a bonus, USA Cycling membership a must (if you don't have one, you can sign up by the first race). More specific information will be shared at the meeting. Please email Kristin at kthorbudden@gmail.com if interested in joining the team and include whether or not you can make dinner, and if not, any information discussed will be passed along.

Make Yoga Part of Your Mix in 2012

We are pleased to offer two Yoga classes per week at our Westport location - 10 AM with Kathy and 7 PM with Sue.

There are many positive benefits from regularly practicing yoga:

Cycling to College by Trevor MacLean

First starting at Targetraining in the beginning of 2008 when I was 15, I had no idea I would be so hooked in the sport. What started at twice a week to enjoy riding a bicycle and stay in good shape eventually worked its way up to riding daily to reach the highest level I can to compete in.

I purchased a USA cycling license to try out my first race at the Bethel Spring Series in the cat 5’s when I was 16. After being lapped two times before pulling out of the race I knew that I wanted to train to just stay with the group, and eventually go further than that. Staying at TT and training and learning from all the experienced coaches and athletes there, I learned so much on training, nutrition and how to become faster. That summer I tried to race every weekend in all types of events. Triathlons, Duathlons and Cycling. I developed a real passion for it.

Staying focused, training hard and sticking to it I shortly found myself excelling to the next level. Going to national events to compete and getting a Category 2 racing license finally came. When it came time to look into colleges I knew I wanted more than an average college, particularly one with a team, so I looked up one of the best Collegiate Cycling Teams in the country, Lees-McRae came up. Applying and talking with the coach I found myself racing for Lees-McRae College as a D1 school and competing at nationals for them. Recently finishing 15th at collegiate nationals for mountain biking in the cross country race, I have my sites set even higher for road and in the years to come.
